Our Program

The Outpatient program at Halton Healthcare Services is located in Oakville and offers services to people of all ages living in South Halton, and adolescents up to 19 years, living in South Peel. The program serves those individuals and their families who are affected by Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, or Binge Eating Disorder.

The treatment program offers several services including Psychiatric assessment and follow up; Nutrition Assessment and Counselling; Psychosocial Assessment; Family Education and Individual Counselling. The group programs include Adult Psychoeducation; Family Psychoeducation; Skill Building Group and a Body Image Group.


The Staff

The staff consists of a multidisciplinary group of professionals from the areas of psychiatry, social work and nutrition. Individuals are first seen by a psychiatrist then referred to a social worker/psychotherapist and dietician.



Referrals

Only physician-initiated referrals are accepted and must be completed on our program-specific referral form. Results from recent clinical investigations form are an integral part of the referral process and must be provided before an assessment can be booked.

Due to the potentially serious medical complications associated with Eating Disorders, family physicians must agree to remain involved in the ongoing medical management of their patients.


Philosophy of Care

The staff at Halton Healthcare recognizes that Eating Disorders are complex and the course of recovery is variable. They understand and value that the client and their families all have unique need that need to be addressed.
