Early Identification

Screening and early detection of any disease or disorder is important and often critical in planning for appropriate treatment and or referral to specialized services.

With eating disorders patients, especially adolescents, early detection and intervention can hopefully prevent a lifetime of struggles with disordered eating and related health complications. You may have some that you have been seeing you for years, that on a particular visit, gives you a slight indication or suggestion they might have an eating disorder, despite having kept it hidden from you until such time. It is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms, and also to ask the questions to those people who you feel may be at risk.

Please make use of the Early Intervention section for more information and downloadable worksheets for your patients to utilize.
